An Ode to October: Weekly Hikes

Last year I committed myself to hiking in a new spot every weekend in October! I loved it so much I’m going to attempt to do it again- squeezing it in whenever I can in the week. Breathing the fresh air that’s just begging for a new adventure.

October just feels like the pinnacle of Fall. Every day has a slight crispness, the color tones run warmer and there’s always cinnamon. Lots of cinnamon. I am convinced it’s everyone’s favorite month too which is why it can easily seem so busy, chaulked-full of activities and events. It’s one of my favorite months because some of my most favorite people were born in this month, and I feel they embody a bit of the fall spirit too. This intangible quality that is hard to explain to just anybody but quite simply: feels like magic.

It is also a beautiful time for creating and for slow living. Cooking and baking, watching football on Sundays, bonfires in the backyard and movies played on white sheets screened with projectors. And s’mores, lots of s’mores. It’s for a bottle of blend shared between friends over good conversation on the porch looking up at big bright stars. It’s for adventure and travel if you can. Sneaking away to an undiscovered city, tucked away town or overlook on the Blue Ridge Parkway.

One thing’s for sure, I will be fully enjoying my October.
